  • Student Mental Health and Resilience Under the Impact of COVID-19 Pandemic

Posted by Andrea on 2020-08-20 at 10:28 PM

Some of us students affected by COVID-19 Pandemic have developed psychological problems, which are closely related to many factors. I am acutely aware that not only we students but also many people from all walks of life are facing physical and mental challenges. And how we can heal from this challenge is important not only for our studies but also for our future development. I believe that as students, we need not only to get help from the school, but also to share our experiences and tips on how to overcome these challenges with each other. In the present day, we are mostly confined to our homes, so it is important to know how to communicate with each other through the internet as well as other mediums. I have found this to be a good forum for us students to share and communicate with each other to overcome the challenges that Pandemic brings. My stress is mainly academic and financial. I wonder where your stress comes from?

Thank you for sharing. This is indeed a big confusion for me as well. My biggest problem at the moment is that a lot of stress comes from lack of communication and interaction with others, and I’m not very motivated in school. I hope to be able to share my experiences with like-minded people because, I feel that writing down through words is also a way to relieve stress. But I would be happy if I could share my experience and confusion with different students from all over the world.

From my personal experience, I have found that meditation or the practice of yoga is very helpful in maintaining physical and mental health. It doesn’t have to be too long each day, but if you can find half an hour in the morning and half an hour in the evening to practice, you will see very noticeable results after a month. Since I have been practicing for a long time, I don’t feel that Pandemic has any effect on my mind, which may have something to do with the fact that I have been practicing yoga and meditation for a long time. We also need to be careful with our diet and not overeat, which is also very helpful in relieving our stress. Anyway, this is my personal experience. I’m sure everyone has different ways of relieving stress and would love to hear about your experiences.

I relieve stress by listening to some quiet music, everyone likes different music, for me quiet music provides space and time for my mind and body to relax. Nowadays we seem to have a lot of free time, but often we don’t know how to plan for it. If we can take time out of our day to listen to some nature-related soft music it can be very helpful in relieving our stress. In fact, when we practice yoga, we listen to relaxing music.
